MY BREAD
HISTORY
I grew up with really good bread, and some of my fondest childhood memories are from the summers my sister and I spent with our grandmother in the countryside in Poland. Every morning we would go to the local bakery, where the bread was an experience in itself. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and with a taste that was something completely special. There was no bread in Sweden that could compare to Polish sourdough bread.
Grandma had a special way of taking care of her bread. She would gently wrap it in linen tea towels, which kept it fresh longer and created a beautiful atmosphere in the kitchen. Plastic bags were rare in Poland back then, so linen was both the natural and practical choice.
Now, as artisan bakeries and sourdough bread are booming in Sweden, I've often thought back to my grandmother's simple, yet ingenious method. I wanted to store my bread in a way that would both keep it fresh longer and be a beautiful detail in the kitchen.
From that thought, Bread Bestie was born – a collection of timeless and durable linen bread bags, inspired by my grandmother and our family's love for really good bread.
