Creating something beautiful and functional can start in the most unexpected places. For me, the design process for the new embroidered bread bags began in a wheat field outside my summer house. It wasn't just the wheat that caught my attention, but also the daisies and cornflowers growing there. This combination of nature's simplicity and the splendor of color became an unexpected source of inspiration for my new embroidered bread bag designs.
The role of nature in the design process
When I first went out into the wheat field, it was to seek peace and inspiration. The wheat swayed softly in the wind, creating an almost hypnotic rhythm. But it was the daisies and cornflowers that really caught my eye. The white and blue flowers brought life and color to the field, and I quickly realized that they could be the perfect visual basis for my embroidered bread bags.
Using nature as a starting point in design is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also sustainable. By letting the colors and shapes of the environment guide the design, a strong connection between product and place is created. It also makes the embroidered bread bags feel more authentic and personal.

Sketching and idea development
After gathering inspiration from the field, I started sketching. I wanted to capture the feeling of summer, simplicity and naturalness. The daisies with their round, white petals and yellow centers became a central part of the pattern. The intense blue color of the bluestone added contrast and life.
I experimented with different ways to combine the flowers. Sometimes I drew them as individual motifs, other times as a dense pattern that could cover the entire bag. I also tested different color scales, from soft pastels to stronger tones, to see what worked best with the material of the bread bags.
The importance of design for sustainability
Creating embroidered bread bags that can be reused is a way to reduce plastic use and contribute to a more sustainable everyday life. By using inspiration from nature and natural materials, I also wanted to show that sustainability can be beautiful and inspiring.
The daisies and cornflowers design reminds us of the importance of taking care of our environment. Every time someone uses one of these bags, they receive a small reminder of the beauty and value of nature.
